Personal Profile: Jonathan Skinner

Accounting and Economics

Originally from Solihull, Jon Skinner graduated from Hull University with an honors degree in Accounting and Economics in 1978. Jon then started his training as a Chartered Accountant at the Birmingham office of Touché Ross & Co, where he qualified in 1981.

Finance Controller in the Manufacturing Industry

In 1981, Jon moved to Derbyshire, seeking the challenge of working in the manufacturing section. Jon then successfully gained a position of Finance Controller for The Clay Cross Company. Alongside his new position, Jon took the time out to play rugby union for Chesterfield first XV, whilst also representing Derbyshire as prop forward.

Family

Jon married Derbyshire girl Barbara in 1986, they now have three children: Daniel, Oliver and Charlotte. Daniel is currently studying for his degree in Physics, whilst Oliver is in his second year of College studying Accounting, Business and IT, and Charlotte is in her final year of High School studying for her GCSE’s.

Finance Director

Transferring from British Ropes in Doncaster, Jon took up the position as Plastics Finance Director at T & D Industries in Bradford. Following this position, an exciting opportunity arose developing new automotive business opportunities and implementing a new enterprise resource planning system. Jon directed a world class improvement change program.

Jon Skinner Consultancy LTD

In 2000, Jon Skinner Consultancy was established, since then the consultancy has been contracted by numerous businesses, whilst independently achieving an ongoing rapport with clients to deliver high standards within the business.

Jon is currently involved in assisting FCO Services in the transition of being a Government Agency to a Trading Fund; this should take place in 2008.

Personal Interests

Jon’s interests include Computing and Campanology, where he is the treasurer and secretary of a St Mary’s Church in Badsworth. Although Jon does no longer play rugby he is still a keen England fan and watches matches regularly on television. In addition to Jon’s passion for real ale he enjoys boating holidays with his family.
